Nieminen, John E. (12 DEC 1886 – 11 MAY 1975)
John Erik Niemanen of Lake Worth, Florida, died May 11, 1975 of heart
complications and old age.
He was born in Kukmalahti, Finland December 12, 1886. He came to Calumet,
Michigan in 1909 and married there to Sanni Santala December 30, 1910. She
passed away March 20, 1975, as did a daughter, Gertrude in 1947.
John was a blacksmith and farmer from 1913 to 1945 in the Finn Settlement
northwest of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). They retired to Lake Worth, where he
continued to work as caretaker in the trailer park where they lived until
recently.
Private funeral services will be held at Lakeside Funeral Chapel in Lake Worth.
His ashes will be brought to Riverside Cemetery in rural Withee.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Theo (Tyrnie) Kalbow, Lake Worth, Florida,
and Mrs. Martin (Vieno) Keskimaki, Withee, Wisconsin; Four grandchildren, Klay,
Dale, and Kurt Keskimaki, and Carol Decker; Six great-grandchildren; one sister,
Selma Kalteren of Redwood City, California, and one sister-in-law, Hilda Santala,
Withee, Wisconsin.
