The Neillsville Kiwanis Club named local high school senior Riley Voigt as the junior Kiwanian for December.

Voigt is the daughter of Tim and Sue Voigt.

“She brings with her an impressive list of academic, extracurricular and athletic achievements during her high school years,” the club’s Brent Shoup wrote in a press release.

Voigt is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She is an officer in the Spanish Club and participates in Being a Leader and Standing Tall (BLAST).

Voigt has also received multiple athletic letters. In athletics, she has served as a manager for the softball team, has run on the track team and is a four-year member of the basketball and volleyball squads.

She has also been involved in the community with activities such as volunteering for recreation department activities. She has also waitressed at Strike Time Lanes and Schmitty’s on Main.

“The Junior Kiwanian program gives recognition to outstanding students like Riley Voigt who have demonstrated strong academic achievement, shown good leadership qualities and strive to make use of their talents,” Shoup said. “Through their participation in the Junior Kiwanian program, students are provided an introduction to the concept of a service organization such as Kiwanis, which encourages active participation in the community throughout the lifespan.

“The Neillsville club wishes her continuing success in her future endeavors.”

Following graduation, Voigt plans to attend the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse or Madison to major in speech
