Lokken, John (30 AUG 1897 – 19 MAY 1975)
At 1:30 p.m. o'clock today, Thursday, May 22, 1975, funeral services for John
Lokken, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), will be conducted from St. Paul's Lutheran
Church, Curtiss. The Rev. Roger Tellock will be in charge of the final rites,
with burial to be made in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, rural Curtiss.
Friends may call at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday, May
21st.
Mr. Lokken had a barbering career that spanned more than 50 years, during which
time he operated a shop in Curtiss until 1938, after which he barbered for
awhile in Chicago, Marshfield, Abbotsford, and for several eyars barbered with
the late Neal Laine in Laine's Shop, Owen. He was also active in community
affairs and served as treasurer of the Town of Hoard for over 30 years. During
World War I he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Van Huizen-Fritz
American Legion Post 123, Owen.
John Lokken was born August 30, 1897 in Curtiss and passed away at the age of 77
years at 3:30 Monday afternoon, May 19, 1975, at the Continental Manor Nursing
Home, Abbotsford, where he had been a resident for several months following an
extended period of hospitalization at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield,. He had
been in failing health the past two or three years, since suffering a heart
attack.
He was a graduate of the Curtiss Grade School and the Abbotsford High School.
His passing is mourned by his wife, the former Pearl Knight, whom he married in
a ceremony performed at Curtiss on the 1st of June 1925, and a son, Arthur
Lokken, of Danbury.
