Mazola, Iona E. (18 August 1924 – 24 January 2020)

Iona E. Mazola, 95, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Three Oaks Health Service, Marshfield.

A private service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2020. Burial will be in Neillsville City Cemetery. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville, is assisting the family.

Iona was born on August 18, 1924 in Black River Falls, to Edward and Hazel (Taylor) Peterson and attended school in Black River Falls. She was united in marriage to Joseph M. Mazola on November 15, 1947. He died in May of 1988 after 41 years of marriage.

Iona and her husband farmed in the Town of Levis, Clark County. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Polivka of Pittsville, 2 granddaughters, Lacy Hansen of St. Joseph, MN and Megan (Carl) Thompson of Colby, and 2 great grandchildren, Ellie Kuseske of St. Joseph, MN and Elijah Thompson of Colby. She is further survived by her sister, Irene Sivley of Jones, OK and 8 nieces and 1 nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Lione Peterson and her twin sister, Iola Casper.

We wish to express our special thanks to all the CNA’s and staff at Three Oaks who acted in so many kind ways with the various phases of care given and will always be remembered with great appreciation.
