She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1953. She married Gerald T. Bredlau on Dec. 5, 1953 in Loyal. Early in their marriage, they moved frequently, living in Spokeville (rural Loyal), Janesville, Spencer, Milwaukee and settling in Stevens Point in the late 1960s. Janet’s main focus was as a homemaker and raising their children. In 1970, she went to work at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, in the medical records department. In 1978, they moved to Pittsville, and then later to Heber Springs, Ariz., where they were part-owners of Big John Tree Transplanter Manufacturing Company. Janet worked in their business as the bookkeeper. They moved to Rice Lake, where they owned and operated Carol’s Cafe until retiring. During retirement, they lived in Mesa, Ariz., during the winter months, and Rice Lake during the summer. In 2006, they moved to Conway, Ariz., and then finally settled in Marshfi eld in 2008. She had many interests, but especially enjoyed sewing, reading, attending church, and going to her class reunions in Loyal. She especially loved her dogs, Rose and Bud. Janet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She will be dearly missed by her four children: Michael Bredlau of Stevens Point, Jeffrey (Cyanne) Bredlau of La Crosse, Steven Bredlau of Hawthorne, Fla., and Sandra (Bonnie) Bredlau of Bandera, Texas; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister: Darlene Wirtz of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald, on May 27, 2011; and one grandson, David Bredlau.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stoney River, Ascension at Home Hospice, and Marshfield Senior Services for their care, kindness and comfort given to Janet and the family.
