Kiwanis Club Names Pohle as New Junior Kiwanian (January – 2020)

In a press release, the Neillsville Kiwanis Club announced its newest Junior
Kiwanian is Melissa Pohle, a senior at Neillsville High School.
As Junior Kiwanian, Pohle has participated in Kiwanis meetings. Pohle’s tenure
has been during the month of January. She is the daughter of Brett Pohle and Amy
and Gary Veltus.
“This standout individual has compiled an impressive list of academic
achievements and extracurricular activities in her high school career and has
complemented it with extensive volunteering in the community,” the Kiwanis
Club’s Brent Shoup wrote in the press release, which was issued Jan. 15.
Pohle is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.
Also, at the high school, she has served on the student council, participated in
show choir and been a member of BLAST (Being a Leader and Standing Tall) and the
STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathetics), Spanish, fine arts and
creative writing clubs. Her volunteering has included time at Change of Seasons,
the House of Mercy, the St. Mary’s pancake breakfast, the Clark County Humane
Society and the Neillsville Food Pantry. She has also volunteered in the Big
Buddy Program, in neighborhood lawn care and as a teacher’s aide at CCD.
“The Neillsville club takes priced in highlighting the accomplishments of
students like Melissa Pohle, and wishes her success in her future endeavors,”
Shoup wrote.
After graduating, Pohle plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point. She has been serving as a youth apprentice at Unity Bank and she will
take that experience to UW-Stevens Point to pursue an accounting degree.
