Witt, Harry A. (30 DEC 1903 – 26 APR 1972)
Harry August Witt, age 68, resident of Stanley (Chippewa Co., Wis.), passed away
at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, Wednesday, April 26, 1972.
He was born December 30, 1903 at Cadott, son of Fred and Pauline Witt. He lived
in Cadott until his marriage to Norma Anderson of Stanley on June 2, 1925, when
they moved to Illinois. In 1927 they returned to a farm in Cadott and moved to a
farm south of Stanley in 1929, where he lived for 27 years. He served on the
Board of Directors of the Ladysmith Milk Producers Cooperative for many years.
In 1958 the Witts moved to the city of Stanley, where he served on the police
force for seven years, and on City Council.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; two sons, Ronald and Gerald of Stanley; one
daughter, Mrs. William (Janice) Wagner, Findlay, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; one
brother, Louis, Cadott; four sisters, Mrs. Henry (Elsie) Wenzel, Racine, Mrss.
Elva Allen, Cadott, Mrs. Elmer (Minnie) Wagner, Dundee, Illinois, and Mrs.
Leonard (Eunice) LeMay, Kenosha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Elaine, two brothers, and
two sisters.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 29th at 2 p.m. at Our Savior's
Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Carl W. Peters officiating. Burial was at
Woodlawn Cemetery in Cadott.
Pallbearers were: Mr. Charles Anderson Jr., Mr. George Anderson, Mr. Robert
Anderson of Stanley, Mr. James Wagner of Aurora, Illinois. Mr. Norman Allen of
Racine, and Mr. Dale Witt of Chippewa Falls.
