Schofield, Raymond W. "Sonny" (29 OCT 1924 – 15 FEB 2020)

Raymond W. “Sonny” Schofield, 95, Spencer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at his home in the town of Unity. To honor Sonny’s wishes, his family will hold a Celebration of Life memorial on the home farm later this year. The date and time will be posted on the Life Tributes Funeral Home web site.

Ray was born on Oct. 29, 1924, in the town of Unity, Clark County, the son of Archie “Lee” and Belle (nee Hulce) Schofield. He joined the U.S. Army in September 1950 and faithfully served this country until his honorable discharge in September 1952. He married Patricia Hendrickson on Dec. 16, 1961, in the United Methodist Church in Spencer. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm, which now in 2020 is a fifth-generation dairy farm operation.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, shooting pool or playing cards with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan for the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers and liked to keep up his wits doing crossword puzzles.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his two children: Randall (Melanie) Schofield of Spencer and Carla (Kenneth) Rottscheit of Stratford; his grandchildren: Lance, Michael, Austin, Korey, Skyler and Sterling; his two great-grandchildren: Olivia and Noah; his sisters: Vera Smith of Tomah and Myrna Schofield of Hazelhurst; his brother-in-law, Wayne Hendrickson; and many other relatives, neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Belle; his brother, Richard; and his sisters: Flossie, Nola, Betty, Jeanne and Beulah, and Ramona (in infancy).

The family would like to thank Dr. Koehler and Jackie Pfeifer and their staff at the Marshfield Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ray’s name to the House of the Dove.

Ray’s arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer. Please visit www.lifetributesfuneralhome.com  to share condolences.
