Rueden, Russell E. "Russ" (26 FEB 1936 – 20 FEB 2020)
Russell “Russ” E. Rueden, 83, a former Township of Deer Creek resident, passed
away on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, at Clark County Assisted Living & Rehab Center,
Owen, where he had resided for the past six months, most recently under the care
of St. Croix Hospice.
Russell was born on Feb. 26, 1936, at Dorchester, the son of George and Vera
(Anderson) Rueden. He went to Barry Grade School, Dorchester, and attended
Dorchester High School. His marriage took place on Jan. 18, 1979, at Neillsville
Courthouse to Dorothy (Rabehl) Bochanyin. She survives and resides at Clark
County Assisted Living & Rehab Center, Owen.
Russell served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. After the
service, he farmed in the Town of Holton, Marathon County, raced stock cars and
operated a bulldozer. He and Dorothy successfully owned and operated Jerkwater
Bar & Supper Club for 35 years until retirement. His Bloody Mary’s and prime rib
were next to none. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working, mowing lawn,
dabbling in wine making, but most of all spending time with his family and
friends. He also enjoyed watching Nascar races and tooling around Lake Solberg
on their pontoon.
In addition to his loving wife, Dorothy, Russell is survived by his children:
Kathy Wittig of New London, Lee (Lindy) Bochanyin of Mosinee, Linda Reynolds of
Athens, Luanne Mears of Ellabell, Ga., Lauri Moore of Stetsonville, Larry
(Becky) Bochanyin of Ogema and Lois (John W.) Klimpke of Milan; 14
grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Elaine Rueden of Colby;
and many other family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Olivia Wesphal,
Marilyn Huebner, George and Robert Rueden.
A funeral service for Russ will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at
Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville, with Rev. Richard Russow officiating.
Military rites will be performed by the Stetsonville American Legion Post #519.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11
a.m. on that day. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to either the
American Cancer Society or the Stetsonville American Legion Post in his name.
