LaFlex, Oliver Clayton (30 June 1922 – 8 October 1975) With Flag
Oliver Clayton LaFlex, 53, died at the Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley
after a lingering illness.
Funeral rites were held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church
in Willard of which he was a member. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Rev.
Michael Mertens officiated.
The body laid in state at the Thorp Funeral Home until Friday night and was then
moved to the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard where it was in state till
time of services.
The Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post of Greenwood, of which he was a member,
conducted the graveside services.
LaFlex was born at Thief River Falls, Mn., on June 30, 1922 to Frank and Adeline
LaFlex. He arrived at Stanley as a small child with his parents.
In 1941, he joined with the U.S. Army and was in service in Europe and Africa.
He received the Purple Heart.
He was married on September 9, 1950 to Felicia Djubenski who survives him. He
worked for Plautz Brothers for 33 years.
Surviving are his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank LaFlex, Stanley; five
sisters: Mrs. Louis (Phyllis) Wald, Chippewa Falls, Iva LaFlex, Minneapolis, Mn.,
Mrs. Sydney (Winnona) Weiss, Carpentersville, Il., Mrs. Malin (Donna) Teclaw,
Thorp, Mrs. Wayne (Patsy) Madison, Gilman; three brothers: Earl, Jacksonville,
Fl., Maynard of Stanley, and LeRoy with the U.S. Navy in Japan.
Pallbearers were Adam Skora, George Plautz, Floyd Plautz, Jack Conklin, Charles
Senn and Norbert Seichter.
