Bender, Mr./Mrs. David (Golden – 21 October 1975)

Mr. and Mrs. David Bender, Sr., rural Neillsville, were honored at a dinner at the Wildcat Inn on Sunday, October 19, in observance of their golden wedding anniversary.
Mr. Bender was born in the Town of Washburn and was educated at the Cannonville School. Later he moved to the Town of Grant where he has spent all of his life in farming.
Mrs. Bender, the former Mabel Broihier was born in Sestina, Ia., and moved to Pine Valley as a small girl. She received her education in Neillsville and was a telephone operator here before her marriage.
The Benders were married at Dubuque, Ia., on October 21, 1925. Both are very interested in hunting and fishing and also in gardening.

They are the parents of four daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Mae) Hemp of Neillsville, Mrs. Bud (June) Dudei of Plainfield, Mrs. Ralph (Elaine) Durow of Waupaca, Mrs. Gordon Meddaugh of Granton, and one son, David Bender, Jr., of Marshfield. There are 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. All were present at the dinner.

Also present were Mrs. Bender’s sisters: Mrs. Ed Hauge, Mrs. Faye Wasserberger and Mrs. George Bryan of Neillsville, and their husbands. Mr. Bender’s brothers, Floyd of Grass Valley, Ca., and his wife and Bernard of Manitowoc and his wife, and a sister, Mrs. Essie Martin of Richland Center, were present as well.

Also attending from away were: Dr. and Mrs. William Bender of Viroqua, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dudei of Plainfield, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Biggs of Plover, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baillod of Hancock, Mrs, Kathy Jorgensen of Waupaca, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Bender of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bender and Mrs. Agnes Bender of Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Small of Martinez, Ca., and Michael Hemp and Miss Vicki Maslowski of Marshfield.

Many relatives and friends from the Neillsville area were also present.

The Benders received many cards and gifts.
