Missling, Carol J. (29 MAY 1940 – 25 FEB 2020)
Carol J. Missling, 79, Longwood, passed away six days after her husband, Doug,
on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at Meriter Hospital of Madison, with her family by
her side. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 7, at
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood. Rev. Elizabeth Biers will officiate.
Family and friends are welcome from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday
at the church. Interment will be held at a later date.
Carol Wendt was born on May 29, 1940, in Greenwood, the daughter of Adolph and
Florine (nee Abel) Wendt. She received a degree from UW-Eau Claire in education.
On Oct. 2, 1965, Carol married the love of her life, Doug Missling. She taught
for 30 years in Marshfield, Rice Lake and retired from Owen-Withee Elementary.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, church council, and Longwood
Homemakers. She also served as a 4-H Leader, sang with the Clark County
Choraliers, taught Sunday School, and played piano, organ and tone chimes for
church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting,
stamping/card-making, crafting, baking, and gardening both flowers and
vegetables.
Carol is survived by her three daughters: Debbie (Rod) Englebretson of Owen,
Michelle Carpenter of Abbotsford, and Susanne Lilly of Port Washington; six
grandchildren: Devon Englebretson of Hortonville, Derek Englebretson of
Marshfield, Elli Carpenter of Abbotsford, Hunter Carpenter of Abbotsford, Mason
Carpenter of Abbotsford, and Conner Lilly of Port Washington; two
great-grandchildren: Archer Englebretson of Marshfield and Caleb Englebretson of
Hortonville; her brother: Dennis (Colleen) Wendt of Owen; her sister: Gerri
Wathke of Eau Claire; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doug; and a
brother-in-law, Roger Wathke.
