Leichtnam, Joan J. (14 AUG 1935 – 27 FEB 2020)
Joan J. Leichtnam (nee Witt), 84, of West Bend, passed away peacefully at her
home on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020. She was born on Aug. 14, 1935, to the late
Charles and Hilda (nee Molle) Witt. On May 17, 1952, she was united in marriage
to Jack Leichtnam in Dorchester. Together they resided in Milwaukee until moving
to West Bend in 2000. She was a member of Pilgrim Evangelical Lutheran Church in
West Bend. Joan enjoyed knitting, playing cards, and games. She loved spending
time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory include her three children: James
(Cherie Utech) Leichtnam of Hartford, Daniel “DJ” (fiancée Brenda) Leichtnam of
West Bend, and Darla Leichtnam and Hippy of Cudahy; seven grandchildren: Tim
(Susan) Leichtnam, Crystyna Leichtnam, Joe (Michelle) Leichtnam, Scott
(Kathleen) Leichtnam, Jackie (Bryan) Scarce Sr., and Jon (Renee Pfeiffer)
Lorenz; nine great-grandchildren, Shawn, Renee, Bryan Jr., Jenna, Jacob, David,
Hailey, Myranda and Collin; a sister, Elaine Frome of Evansville; a
sister-in-law, Bonnie Rehberg of Onalaska; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack
Leichtnam; a brother, Harlan (Margaret) Witt; three sisters-in-law: Betty
(Marvin) Lange, Margaret “Tootie” (Edwin) Grambort and Donna (John) Anderson;
two brothers-in-law, Byron and Donald Leichtnam; and her granddaughter, Lisa
Kerkela.
A memorial service in remembrance of Joan will be held on Wednesday, March 11,
2020, at 4 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West
Bend.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time
of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the family are greatly
appreciated.
