Schimke, Ruth (7 FEB 1937 – 25 FEB 2020)

Ruth Schimke, 83, of Waterford, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at her home.

Born in Hazel Green, Wisconsin on February 7, 1937, she was the daughter of Guerdon and Esther (nee Lightcap) Browning. Her early years were spent in Platteville, where she graduated from Platteville High School. She also attended college at UW Platteville and Viterbo College in La Crosse. In 1958, she was united in marriage to John Schimke. Following marriage, they resided in Neenah and Menasha before moving to Milwaukee and Honey Creek. She and her husband eventually retired to Lublin, Wisconsin. John preceded her in death on January 21, 2010.


Ruth worked as an . insurance agent for Farmers Insurance. She was active in Scouts and 4-H in her younger years. In Ruth's younger years, she and John were foster parents. She was President of Lublin Village and was a member of the LeLache League and Right For Life. She was very active in local theaters and enjoyed gardening and raising goats on the hobby farm that she and her husband had for 50 years. Her hobbies also included crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. Her passion, however, was church. Ruth was very faithful and active at many Catholic churches, with her home church being St. Stanislaus in Lublin, Wisconsin. Her whole life was Christ and her family.

Ruth is survived by her children: Michael (Susan) Schimke, Mary (Rick) Schimke-Jackley, Michelle f (Michael) Daniels, Mark Schimke, Matthew (Constance) Schimke, Monica (Franklin) Schimke-Mayer and Martin y (Sarah) Schimke; grandchildren: Amber, Tyler, Johnathon, Aileen, Luke, Joseph, Courtney, Vincent, Jacquelyn, R Jordan, Elizabeth, Hannah, Franklin, Regina and Augustus; fifteen great-grandchildren; half-siblings: Daryl, Debra, ' Dennis and Daryn; and sisters-in-law: Carol Browning and Barbara Jeffers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Ronald Browning; and grandson, Bradley M. Schimke.

The family would like to thank Angels Grace Hospice ■ and the staff at Elder Care Cottages of Wisconsin for their J care and compassion during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association.

A visitation for Ruth was held on Sunday, March 1, 1 2020, from Noon until 4 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral ' Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 2, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic y Church in Lublin, Wisconsin with Rev. Vijay Madani officiating. Relatives and friends visited with the family I before the time of service from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial took place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery following the service.
