Blau, Robert (6 July 1884 – 8 November 1975)
A Neillsville native, Robert Blau, 91, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday
afternoon, November 8, at the Riverview Manor Nursing Home there where he had
been a patient for one week. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from SS.
Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Andrew Karoblis officiating. Burial was
in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Neillsville. The Higgins Funeral Home,
Wisconsin Rapids, was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Blau was born July 6, 1894, in Neillsville to the late Mr. and Mrs. Nick
Blau. He was married twice. His first marriage was to the former Anna Podnowski
on November 11, 1913, in South Milwaukee. She died December 15, 1933. On June
12, 1945, he was married to the former Bertha Rector, who preceded him in death
on November 21, 1957.
Mr. Blau came to Wisconsin Rapids from Milwaukee in January of 1969 and was
retired as a maintenance man at the Carmolite Boys Home in Milwaukee.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Constance Gadsky, Wisconsin Rapids; one
step-son, Harvey Fardel of Milwaukee; two step-daughters, Mrs. James Jrolf and
Mrs. Gerald Rozanske, both of Milwaukee; two step-sisters, Mrs. Leon Landgraf of
Neillsville and Fannie of Oshkosh; and 15 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
