Duell, Marcia D. (27 JUN 1951 – 24 FEB 2020)

Marcia D. Duell, 68, Loyal, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Marshfield Medical Center, in the presence of members of her family, after several years of dealing with COPD and a battle with lung cancer in her final days. A celebration of life is being planned for later this year.

Marcia Delores Bushman was born on June 27, 1951, in Greenwood, to Aloysius N. and Dorothy V. (nee Stowe) Bushman. She was raised and received her education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1969. After high school, Marcia moved to Milwaukee, where she lived with her sister, Terri Bauschek, and worked at Continental Can. She married Darwin K. Vollrath and they had two children together, Aaron and Josh. They later divorced. On Oct. 20, 1978, Marcia married Kevin M. Duell. Marcia and Kevin made their home in Loyal, and Marcia lived there until her death. On Dec. 15, 1977, Marcia started working for the Clark County Office of Aging and Nutrition. This began a long period of time when Marcia cared for people requiring assistance. In addition to working for Clark County, in the early 1990s Marcia began working at local group homes with clients with mental and physical disabilities. Her kindness, empathy, and patience were greatly appreciated by those she worked with. Marcia was appreciated by her supervisors and co-workers and was recognized as a valuable and reliable employee. After almost 40 years of service, on Sept. 1, 2017, she retired from the County, but continued working at a group home in Greenwood until health related issues limited her ability to continue. During the time she worked, Marcia made many great friendships with her clients and co-workers, and both her life and their lives were enriched. In her leisure time, Marcia enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family. She was also a great cook and her family has many pleasant memories of the delicious meals she would serve them.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Aaron (Bernice) Vollrath of Cupertino, Calif., and Josh (Amy) Vollrath of Fall Creek; her seven grandchildren: Teagan, Tatum, Gianna, Bo, Vander, Booker, and Phineas; four sisters: Pat (Pete) Bogdonovich of Greenwood, Terri (Brad) Bauschek of Port Washington, Joan (Hugh) Christie of Greenwood, and Sue (Bill) Kurasz of Dubois, Wyo.; one brother: Ed (Sharon) Bushman of Hayward; one sister-in-law: Connie Bushman of Eau Claire; her husband: Kevin Duell of Owen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Steve Bushman.

The family extends its sincere thanks to her friends and neighbors who assisted her during her illness.
