NEILLSVILLE-- A former Loyal resident died early today from injuries she suffered following a fall.

Florence Bertz, 92, a resident of Memorial Home in Neillsville, sustained a head injury when she fell at the home, acording to Clark County Coroner Bob Lulloff. She died at 5:25 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Hospice Unit, he said.

Services for Florence Bertz, 92, Loyal, who died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield will be Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal.

The Rev. Roman Kaiser will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Joseph Carpenter, Jr. and Peter, Paul, Phillip and Patrick Bertz, and a great-grandchild, Shawn Bertz.

Visitation will be at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, Wednesday. A Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary will be Wednesday by a prayer service, both at the funeral home.

She was born July 25, 1899, in the town of York, to the late Peter and Katherine (Kiley) Hannan. She attended schools in Loyal and Greenwood and was a 1918 graduate of Loyal High School. She also graduated from Steven's Point Teacher's College in 1922. She married C. Bertz June 24, 1924, in Loyal, and he died in 1961.

She taught in Port Edward and at Lincoln School, town of York and Ramodtka School and then in Iron Mountain, Michigan. She later taught grade school for a number of years in Loyal. She lived in Loyal after retirement and gave private piano lessons.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was one of the founders of the Loyal Women's Club.

She is survived by three sons, Edward, Jr. of Homewood, Illinois, John of Verona and Thomas of Stevens Point; four daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Genevieve) St. Onge of Orlando, Florida, Mrs. Joseph (Carol) Carpenter of White Fish Bay, Mrs. David (Constance) Cooper of Eugene, Oregon, and Mrs. Larry (Mary Ellen) Ruhn of Frederic; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by one son, two daughters, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild.
