Parkhill, Melvin E. (26 APR 1899 – 8 SEP 1972)
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Marshfield for Melvin E.
Parkhill, 73, of 1105 E. Doege Street, who died at 11:55 a.m. Friday at St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient since Saturday.
The Reverend Arvid Morey of Wesley Methodist Church officiated, and burial was
in Hillside Cemetery.
Mr. Parkhill was born at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) April 26, 1899, and was
educated at Thorp and Polly, Wisconsin. He was married to the former Mayme
Deauchamp on December 2, 1916, at Abbotsford. He worked for Kraft Cheese
Company, Thorp, until 1921, when he transferred to Marshfield. Since his arrival
at Marshfield, he had been employed at Central Cheese Company for 37 years and
for nine years previous with previous owners of that firm. He retired in August
1968.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, United Commercial Travelers, and the Wesley
Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Mrs. Myron
(Josephine) Dohm, rural Chili, and Mrs. Jack (Ruth) Loveland, Marshfield; eight
grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Laverne Holden,
Spring Valley, Wisconsin.
