Foster, Carla (5 January 1892-14 January 1972)

Mrs. Elmore Foster, 80, 303 E. Second St., Merrill, died Friday in a Merrill hospital after a brief illness. She was a retired city editor of the Merrill Herald.

Funeral services will be held Monday in Taylor Funeral Home in Merrill. The Rev. L. H. Jacobson, pastor of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Merrill, will officiate. Burial will be made in St. Anthony's Church Cemetery, Loyal. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday and Monday until the funeral hour.

The former Carla Everson was born January 5, 1892, in Merrill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Everson. She was married in Wausau on October 7, 1919, to Elmore Foster, who survives. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Foster was employed by the Merrill Daily Herald in various capacities. When she joined the newspaper, type was set in individual letters by hand with women doing much of the type setting. In later years she worked as the Herald's telegraph editor and as the city editor. She also worked for a time at the Marshfield News-Herald while residing in Marshfield with her husband.

Surviving besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Davel, Loyal; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
