Evelyn O. Seliskar, 82, Greenwood, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020, at the
Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen. A funeral service will be planned at
a later date.
Evelyn O’Della Vetterkind was born on April 1, 1937, in Withee, to William E.
and Viola G. “Vi” (nee Collier) Vetterkind. She was raised on the family farm
northwest of Withee, received her education in the Withee area, and graduated in
the last class from Withee High School in 1955. Evelyn then attended Taylor
County Teachers College in Medford for one year. She taught at Butler School in
Clark County before her marriage to James P. Seliskar on April 11, 1959, at Holy
Family Catholic Church in Willard. Besides being a homemaker and raising her
family, Evelyn also worked at Weinbrenner Shoes in Marshfield, and did domestic
work for local businesses and friends for many years. Evelyn was a member of
Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, where she was very active in church
activities and taught Catechism, was a former member of the K.S.K.J. Lodge in
Willard, in past years was involved with Greenwood Dairy Days where she was in
charge of organizing the parade, was one of the founding members of the “GAB”
Club (Greenwood Athletic Boosters), and was a former Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and
Girl Scouts leader. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time
with her family and friends, enjoying wildlife (especially eagles and deer), and
making Christmas wreaths. She loved the Packers and high school sports.
Evelyn is survived by her son: Randall (Lori) Seliskar of Loyal; her daughter:
Yvonne Minor of Woodbury, Minn.; three grandchildren: Chris, Katie, and Alex;
six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim, on Sept. 26, 1997;
one son: Todd P. Seliskar, on Sept. 16, 2014; one grandson: Daniel Seliskar, on
July 15, 2014; three brothers: Holley, Billy and Ernest Vetterkind; and one
sister: Alice Hinke.
