Loos, Gilbert (11 December 1916-20 March 1989)
LOYAL--Services will be Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal, for
Gilbert Loos, 72, Loyal, who died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital Emergency
Room, Marshfield.
The Rev Chester Osowski will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery,
with full military rites by the Loyal American Legion post.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Thomas, Harold Collinson, Allen Luber, Wally
Szymanski, Art Olson and DuWayne Mews.
Visitation will be at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, today and until time of service
time on Wednesday. A Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be
today followed by a prayer service and a Knights of Columbus rosary service, all
at the funeral home.
He was born December 11, 1916, in Greenwood, to Conrad and Elizabth Loos. He
attended St. Anthony's Parochial School.
He married Jean Kruger February 14, 1942 in Evanston, Illinois.
He farmed in the town of Eaton before his marriage. He then went to Chicago and
worked for International Harvester until 1942. In 1946, he moved to the town of
Loyal and farmed there for 32 years, retiring and moving to the city of Loyal.
He was a caretaker for the Thomas Apartments, Loyal, and drove for Meals on
Wheels, Clark County.
He was a member of the Loyal American Legion, the 40 et 8, and was a World War
II Army veteran, serving from October 1942 until November 1945. He was am
alderman for two terms for the city of Loyal, a member of Knights of Columbus,
Our Lady of Fatima Council, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and Catholic Family
Insurance.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Tom and Bob, both of Loyal, and Michael
of Marshfield; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Betty) Rondorf of Greenwood, and Mrs.
Glen (Pat) Bennett of Loyal; two brothers, Ruben of Chicago, and Jerome of St.
Charles, Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Violet Becker of Loyal, and Mrs. Dorothy
Boulanger of Cheteck; and 16 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, and six brothers, Alex, Art, Roy, John, Clem,
and one in infancy
