Elroy Clarence Jensen (3 Oct 1922 – 4 Aug 2013)
Dr. Elroy Clarence Jensen, DVM, 90, of Gilbert, is now resting in the arms of Jesus since Sunday, August 4, 2013. Both the visitation (Friday, August 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.) and funeral service (Saturday, Aug 10, at 2 p.m.) will be at Heartland Baptist Church in Ames. Burial with military honors at Gilbert Cemetery follows.

Elroy was born October 3, 1922 in Dorchester, WI; the son of Nels and Mollie (Springer) Jensen. He was a proud Dane who graduated from Dorchester High School in 1940. Elroy earned degrees at University of Wisconsin River Falls, Michigan State University, and Iowa State University. Elroy served in the Army during World War II and later married Emma Jane Allen of Battle Creek, MI in 1948.

Elroy taught small animal surgery and medicine at ISU for 16 years. He later entered into private practice at Small Animal Clinic in Ames until his retirement in 1989. Elroy was a faithful member of Campus Baptist Church for over 50 years, and recently a member of Heartland Baptist Church; served as mayor of Gilbert; was a member of the American Legion; and enjoyed gardening. Elroy was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. He faithfully followed Him in all aspects of daily life. Elroy's favorite verse was Romans 8:38-39.

Elroy was a loving and faithful husband, father and grandfather. Left to cherish Elroy's memory are his children, Carol (Clifton) Anderson of Urbandale and their children, Robert Anderson and Sara (Jason) Grabau; Allen (Debra) Jensen of Huxley and their children, Rachel (Michael) Sparks, Jessica Jensen, Amy (Christopher) Page, and Caleb Jensen; and Phillip (Lori) Jensen of Polk City and their daughter, Kelci Jensen. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence, Clarence, and Elmer; and sister, Eleanora Gauerke.
