Kapfer, Helen (11 January 1910 – 29 November 1975)
Mrs. Albert (Jim) Kapfer, 65, of 714 Kuester Lane, West Bend, died at her home
Saturday evening, November 29 after a long illness.
She was born at Colby January 11, 1910, to William and Madeline Poler, and later
moved with her parents onto a farm near Cannonville. She attended Cannonville
Grade School and Neillsville High School.
Helen Poler and Albert Kapfer were married in Neillsville, February 2, 1928.
After their marriage they lived in West Bend.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Beverly Laatsch of Kenosha,
Mrs. Leland (Darlene) Schaub of Kewaskum, Mrs. Allen (Barbara) Kleinhans of
Campbellsport and Mrs. John (Mary Ellen) Keller of West Bend; 15 grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lois Mathews of Lake Geneva, Mrs.
George (Ardis) Sherwood of Neillsville, Mrs. Oliver (Hazel) Williams of Granton
and Mrs. Ethel Henne of Kewaskum; and two brothers, Charles and Robert Poler of
West Bend.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose Lodge at
West Bend, and the Moose College of Regents. She was also a member of Washington
County Homemakers, the Mor-Ed Club and West Bend senior citizens.
Funeral services were held December 2 from the Fifth Avenue United Methodist
Church.
The Rev. Virgil Nulton, pastor of the church officiated, with burial in
Washington County Memorial Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kapfer and Mrs. George Sherwood from
this area attended.
