Turczyn, Mary A. (20 March 1890 – 4 December 1975)
A Clark County resident since 1917, Mrs. Mary A. Turczyn of Memorial Home, died
Thursday, December 4, at the age of 85. Funeral services were held Monday
morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Henseler
officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery. The Rosary was recited Sunday
evening at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home, where the body of Mrs. Turczyn was
in state.
The daughter of John and Mary Petryk Zek, she was born March 20, 1890, in Poland
and was educated in schools there. Her marriage to Martin Turczyn took place in
1910 in Poland.
The couple moved to Philadelphia and then to Chicago, and in 1917 came to Clark
County where they farmed until Mr. Turczyn’s death on May 11, 1946. Thereafter,
Mrs. Turczyn made her home with her son and daughter-in-law until 1973 when she
entered Memorial Home because of failing health. Mrs. Turczyn was a member of
St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of St. Anthony’s Circle of its P.C.C.W.
Surviving are two children, Andrew Turczyn of Neillsville and Mrs. Phyllis
Mallicoat of California; one sister, Frances Zek of Poland; and six
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
