De Long, Earl (? – 7 January 1976)

Word was received that Earl De Long of Owen had died suddenly late Wednesday. Funeral services were conducted Saturday in Owen, and interment was made in the Owen Cemetery. Those from here attending were Mr. and Mrs. John Burchell and their son, Merle, from Rockford, Il.; and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Fitzmaurice. Both Mr. and Mrs. De Long were former residents.

De Long, Earl H. (? – 6 January 1976)

Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen for Earl H. DeLong, 77, who died Wednesday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

De Long was born at the farm of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph DeLong of Humbird. He received his education in the Humbird Public Schools and was married to Velva O’Leary, July 23, 1922. The young couple made their home at Two Rivers from 1923 to 1948 where he worked for the Hamilton Manufacturing Company, then returned to the farm in the Humbird area.

In 1961, he and his family moved to the Owen-Withee area, living at Owen for a while then moved to Withee.

Surviving are his wife, Velva, five sons, Ronald, Owen; Jerwald, Withee; Russell, To Rivers; Mark and Owen, Cleveland, Wi., and one daughter, Coralee De Long, Two Rivers; one sister, Mrs. John Burchell, Humbird, 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. A lunch was served following the burial, at the American Legion Hall in Owen.

Among those attended from Humbird were Mr. and Mrs. Jake Fitzmaurice, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kopp, Mr. and Mrs. Russell O’Leary, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Putman, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Walker, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Fitzmaurice, Mrs. Helen Fitzmaurice, Mrs. Virgil Jinkerson, Mrs. Darlene Huebner, Mr. and Warren Van Kirk, Mr. and Mrs. John Burchell, Mr. Merle Burchell, Rockford, Il.; and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fitzmaurice.
