Holum, P.T. ‘Ford’ (? -1976)
Funeral services were to be held in Twin Valley, Mn., Wednesday for P.T. (Ford)
Holum, retired Neillsville grocer who died Sunday morning in Venice, Fl., of
cancer.
Mr. and Mrs. Holum had been in Florida for about two weeks when he succumbed
after spending but a few days in the Venice hospital.
In a telephone call to local friends the day before, Mrs. Holum said that
doctors there had been unable to stabilize the cancer which was necessary before
chemotherapy could be started. Mr. Holum had undergone x-ray treatment at
Marshfield before leaving for Florida just before Christmas and was to start the
chemical treatment there.
Mr. Holum had been an owner of the Red Owl grocery in Neillsville before selling
the business. He later became one of the first meat inspectors for the state
when the state meat inspection program was expanded. He retired from that
position about three years ago.
Mrs. Holum served for many years as medical records technician at Memorial
Hospital in Neillsville, and in the last couple of years had been a consultant
in that field for the Neillsville and Black River Falls hospitals.
Mr. Holum was a native of Twin Valley, Mn., but came to Neillsville from Racine,
where he was in the grocery business. In his younger days he played drums in
orchestras in the Fergus Falls, Mn., area.
Surviving besides Mrs. Holum is a son, Bruce, who lives in the east.
