Wendel, Gertrude (7 June 1895-27 November 1966)

LOYAL--Funeral services will be held in St. Anthony's Catholic Church here Saturday, December 3, for Mrs. Joe (Gertrude) Wendel, 71, a former resident of Loyal. The Rev. Norbert King will officiate, and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.

The body will repose at the Mrye Funeral Home beginning Friday. A rosary will be conducted there Friday.

Mrs. Wendel died Sunday in Long Beach, California, of injuries suffered the previous Friday when she was struck by an automobile while walking home from church. Since the death of her husband in 1962, she had been making her home in Long Beach with a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Pena.

Mrs. Wendel was born in Sherman Township (Clark County) in June of 1895, and she and her husband had farmed in this area before moving to Loyal after retirement.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Wendel is survived by three brothers, Joseph, Rudy and Paul Gravitter.
