Wendel, Joseph A. (23 July 1883-22 August 1961)

LOYAL--Funeral services will be held Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church for Joseph A. Wendel, 78, who died early Tuesday morning at his home here of a heart attack. The Rev. Norbert King will officiate and burial will be made in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Myre Funeral Home.

Mr. Wendel was born in Jefferson County July 23, 1883. At the age of 9, he came with his parents who settled on a farm in the ton of Loyal. He was married February 9, 1915, in Spencer to the former Gertrude Gravitter. After their marriage, the couple lived on a neighboring farm until 13 years ago when they moved to the city of Loyal. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Pena, Long Beach, California; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Susie) Steger, Los Angeles, California; and Mrs, Rudolph (Frances) Gravitter, Marshfield.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. The one brother, Frank W. Wendel, died Saturday morning.
