WHITEWATER--Julia Wepfer, 96, of Whitewater, died August 10, 1999, at her
daughter's home in Whitewater.
Funeral Mass were held today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Whitewater with
the Re. Jim Godin, officiating. Burial will be today at St. Anthony's Catholic
in Loyal.
Olson Funeral Home in Whitewater assisted the family with the arrangements.
She was born November 25, 1902, in Avoca, the daughter of Dennis and Johannah
(nee Griffin) Shannon. She married Emil A. Wepfer on February 12, 1927,in Avoca.
He preceded her in death on March 7, 1973.
She graduated from Edgewood Academy in Madison and then graduated from
Platteville Normal School and taught school in Iowa County and Loyal areas. She
was co-owner and operated Wepfer Drug Store in Loyal for 37 years.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post for 69 years and a member
of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Whitewater.
She is survived by one son, Tom (Jan) Wepfer of Loyal and one daughter, Barbara
(Allen) Quast of Whitewater. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by an infant son in 1935 and a granddaughter,
Lynnette Craft in 1999.
