The Rev. Larry J. Davis and family have arrived in Greenwood to make their new
home in the parsonage of the Immanuel United Church of Christ.
The Rev. Davis is replacing the Rev. Pacifico Camarin, who moved to Minnesota.
The Rev. Davis was born in Waterloo, Illinois, where he received he early
education. He later completed his studies for the ministry at the United
Theological Seminary in St. Paul. The past three and one-half years he had been
at Mellen. Prior to that he had served a four-point hills and plains parish at
Hermosa, South Dakota, and then served in a two-point parish of the United
Church of Christ in Danville, Iowa.
Mrs. Davis is the former Becky Waste of Mondovi. She is a graduate from Mankato
State University. In Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota, she taught first and
second grades. At Mellen, she did substitute teaching.
Laura, their 13-year-old daughter, is a junior in the Greenwood Community
Schools. The entire family enjoys outdoor sports, including fishing, swimming,
skating and horseback riding. Rev. Davis also does some hunting.
The new pastor served on the school board at Mellen and is currently chairman of
the Division of Youth Northwest Association of the United Church of Christ.
