Ampe, Elsie (27 August 1909 – 12 January 1976)

Mrs. Alphonse Ampe, 66, of Rudolph, former Greenwood resident died Monday, January 12 in a drowning accident in Sarasota, Fl. The former Elsie Wehrman was born August 27, 1909 in Greenwood and was married to Alphonse Ampe on September 7, 1929 at Greenwood. After their marriage they lived in Greenwood, Cadott and Colby, before they moved to Rudolph 25 years ago.

She was a member of Christian Mothers and The Rudolph Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Leonard, Oak Park, Il., and Bernard of Kokomo, In.; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Ablen of Appleton, and Mrs. David Kuhn of Wisconsin Rapids; brothers, William Wehrman of Loyal and Simon and Oscar Wehrman, both of Greenwood; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Bellamy of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Emma Hium of Greenwood, Mrs. Minnie Karnitz of Barron and 16 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17 at Phillips Catholic Church in Rudolph. The Rev. Robert F. Perkins presided. Burial was made in All Souls Cemetery in Rudolph.

Those from Greenwood, who attended the funeral were Mrs. Emma Hium, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Wehrman, Oscar Wehrman, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hium, Mrs. Joann Hoffman, Mrs. Peggy Turnquist and Miss Darla Hium.
