Helms, Harlan Herbert (4 March 1918-20 March 1990)
Harlan H. Helms, 72, Spencer, died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, where he
had been a patient since Friday.
Memorial services will be Saturday at Kingdom Hall. Burial will be in Lutheran
Lutheran Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Hansen Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
He was born March 4, 1918 in Belmont, to the late Herman and Laura (Albers)
Helms. He attended Belmont elementary and secondary schools.
He married lobelia Gotter September 8, 1959, in Adams. She died October 6, 1964.
He married Angelina Crane November 30, 1974.
He was raised in Belmont. After his secondary education, he attended the
University of Wisconsin-Madison where he majored in agriculture. He then
returned to Belmont where he farmed with his parents and later moved to
Auburndale where he farmed. He was then employed by U.B.C. Lumber Yard in
Marshfield and later by Figi's. He had been employed by St. Joseph's Hospital
for 9 1/2 years until his retirement. During the past 40 years, he had been
employed in the summer month by Peoples Amusements and operated a three-pin
stand at carnivals throughout Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, Angelina; one Stepson, Brian Crane of Chili; five
stepdaughters, Mrs. Eugene (Arline) Ritchey of Adams, Mrs. Ronald (Darlene)
Kopstein of Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Max (Cynthia) Clayton of Chochise, Arizona,
Mrs. Raymond (Verda) Vandervest of St. Francis and Dorothy Cullen of Brooklyn;
13 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; three nephews and one niece.
He was also predeceased by one brother. The family requests no flowers.
