Hills, Bertha (26 February 1873-3 September 1943)
LOYAL--Mrs. Bertha Hills, 70, died this morning of heart trouble at her home in
the village of Loyal. She had been in poor health for about a year. She had
eaten breakfast with the family as usual this morning, and suffered the fatal
attack shortly afterward.
The body will lie in state at the home until the time of the funeral Sunday
afternoon at the Methodist Church, Loyal, and burial will be made in the
Lutheran cemetery.
Bertha Lenling was born in Fond du Lac County, February 26, 1873, and came to
Spencer when she was a little girl, moving soon afterward to Loyal. She was
married there to William Hills, who preceded her in death 25 years ago. Mrs.
Hills was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Delana) Coates, Loyal; six sons,
Paul, Harold and Walter Hills, Milwaukee; Calvin Hills, Abbotsford; Alfred
Hills, Loyal; and PFC. Charles Hills, Australia; five sisters, Mrs. Adeline
Chamberlain, Madison; Mrs. George Shock, Loyal; Mrs. Frank Shock;. Mrs. August
Lindner and Mrs. Henry Rau, Mosinee; two brothers, Albert Lenling, Colfax,
William Lenling, Rothschild, and 19 grandchildren.
