Kostlevy, Dorothy (30 September 1918-14 October 2001)

Dorothy E. Kostlevy, 83, Loyal, Clark County, died on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at New Life Free Methodist Church, Loyal. The Rev. Rick Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at Community Funeral Home, Colby.

Dorothy E. Stuve was born on Sept. 30, 1918, in Humbird, to Howell and Mabel (nee Stallard) Stuve. She graduated from Humbird schools and served at the Olive Branch Mission in Chicago during the 1940s. She later attended the University of Wisconsin at Superior, Madison and Eau Claire before graduating from Greenville College, Illinois, with a teaching degree.

Dorothy taught in Clark County schools from the late 1930s until she was married to Henry Kostlevy in 1948. The couple operated a dairy farm in the town of Beaver for many years while Dorothy continued substitute teaching.

She was a member of the New Life Free Methodist Church and was an avid reader and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and travel.

She is survived by her sons, Edward Kostlevy of Colby, William (Gari-Anne) Kostlevy of Lexington, Kentucky, and Frank (Joanne) Kostlevy of Caroline; three grandchildren, Charles Kostlevy of Madison, Richard Kostlevy and Rebecca Kostlevy, both of Caroline; five sisters Phyliss (Neil) Green of Curtiss, Virginia (Jay) Bonney of Centralia, Washington, Mary (Carl) Harms and Janet (Robert) Anderson both of Sturgis, South Dakota, and Gwen Pearson of Caroline; three brothers Ralph (Lillian) Stuve of Arlington, Washington, Dwight (Norma) Stuve of Wisconsin Rapids, and Paul (Louise) Stuve of St. Paul, Minnesota; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Henry, on May 11, 1989.

Memorials may be given to New Life Free Methodist Church, Greenville College, the Loyal Public Library or the charity of your choice.
