Oelhafen, Lila Louise (8 February 1931 – 12 April 2020)
Lila Oelhafen, age 89, of Neillsville, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020 at her
home. Lila was born on February 8, 1931 in Thorp, the daughter of the late
Donald and Lydia (Wessel) Tieman Sr.
She is survived by her loving sons, Daniel J. (Joanne) Oelhafen of Granton, and
Scott E. (Debra) Oelhafen
of New Lenox, IL, a dear brother, Roger (Linda) Tieman of Spring Grove, IL,
beloved grandchildren, Lisa Oelhafen, Lori (Pete) Nguyen, Sara (Jessie) Marsh,
Stacy (Jamie) Petit, Nathan (Tiffany) Tytor, Valerie and Jeff Deegan, great
grandchildren, Blake Oelhafen, Parker and Grace Nguyen and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Violet (Bill) Hoeper and brothers,
Donald (Diane) Tieman and Robert (Barb) Tieman.
Lila worked as a Social Service Aide Volunteer Coordinator for Social Services
in Neillsville until she retired in 1996. She participated in The Highground’s
annual bicycle tour for many years riding over 2000 miles a year. She enjoyed
reading, sewing, gardening, craft projects, cross country skiing and
snowshoeing.
She did volunteer work and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She had a
very independent spirit and loved her children and spoiled the grandchildren.
She was a wonderful cook and baker. Her recipe for homemade noodles and cut-out
cookies has been passed on to the family. She enjoyed visiting with family and
friends. Her travels took her to many different states and countries. Her most
memorable was her trip to Israel with her granddaughter, Lori. Lila had a very
contagious laugh and beautiful smile. She will be deeply missed by all who knew
her.
In lieu of Flowers donations may be made in her name to The Highground Veterans
Memorial Park, P.O. Box 457, Neillsville, WI 54456.
A private family Graveside Service will be held this Saturday, April 18, 2020 at
the Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood. A Celebration of Lila’s life will be held
at a later date.
