Szoljar, Ignatz (9 January 1887 – 16 March 1976)
A county resident for over 50 years, Ignatz Szoljar, 89, died March 16 at his
home on Rt. 1 Willard. Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the
Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Henseler of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church, Neillsville, officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Szoljar, the son of Ignatz, Sr., and Elizabeth Viegel Szoljar, was born
January 9, 1887, in Austria and came to the United States in 1900, locating in
Illinois where he worked in the coal mines. He came to Clark County in 1921 and
farmed in the Town of Hendren. His first marriage was to Anna Kalitzky, who died
January 20, 1955. Later, he married Matilda Kalitzky. She preceded him in death
on February 9, 1970.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
