Murphy Stepping back into Mayoral Seat (Murphy – 2020)

Murphy was last in the mayoral office in 2010.
“I was on and off again a few times,” Murphy said.
“If you really care about the city, you keep going and working hard. You can’t please everyone, but you have to try your best,” Murphy added.
Murphy said she built contacts from her previous stints as mayor and hopes to build off of those moving forward in her new term as mayor.
When she is mayor again, Murphy wants to see the city’s tax base increased by getting more businesses to set up roots in Neillsville. She said this is needed to curtail the rise in property taxes. She also said there is a need to work with employers in the industrial park to keep people employed, and the housing market needs to expand to get people to move into the community. Murphy said she’s also like to see the downtown stabilized and vacant buildings filled.
“I just want to get going,” Murphy said. “Hopefully, we can get some more housing. I’ve been working with the new hospital. It’s just time to get moving.”
Murphy also wants to see a partnership formed with the city, Pine Valley and Marshfield Medical Center-Neillsville (MMC).
“My goal is to work hard to make Neillsville the best that it can be, which includes working with the Neillsville School District, Neillsville Industrial Park, Neillsville businesses, MMC, the Town of Pine Valley, service clubs, Neillsville Police Department and anyone else who needs help,” Murphy said.
Poeschel was appreciative of his chancre to run for mayor and appreciates the roles that everyone in the municipal government fill.
“I wish everyone in city government well and I hope it will go well.” Poeschel said.
He was also grateful to those who backed him through the process.
“I appreciate everyone who came out and voted for me and supported me,” Poeschel said.
However, Poeschel’s time as an elected official is not over.
“I’m the president of the school board and that will keep me busy,” Poeschel said.
Also, in the election, Dave Harnisch won the Ward 3 alderperson election. He had 98 votes compared to 64 votes for his opponent Rick Buchsteiner.
