Julius Martens, the son of William and Augusta Krueger Martens, was born July 18, 1907, in the Town of Pine Valley and was educated in the Neillsville area schools. He worked at road construction for a few years.

After his marriage to the former Edna Bohnhoff, the couple farmed in the Town of Pine Valley. Mrs. Martens died in 1944, and her husband worked thereafter as a steamfitter in Montana, Wyoming and Minnesota. He retired in 1969 and lived in Neillsville before moving to Marshfield in 1972. Mr. Martens was a WWII Army veteran.

Survivors include one sister, Helanda Martens of Neillsville, and one half-brother, John Martens of Humbird.
