Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Prokopiak of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ann, to Robert John Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Powell of Chicago, Illinois.

Miss Prokopiak is a 1970 graduate of Thorp High School and is presently employed at A.L. Kelley and Son Insurance Company in Arlington, Virginia. Her fiancé attended schools in Chicago, and is a graduate of the University of Illinois. He is presently employed at Cameron Station in Alexandria, Virginia.

An April 11, 1973wedding is being planned.

Miss Mary Ann Prokopiak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Prokopiak, Thorp, was given in marriage by her father to Robert John Powell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Powell of Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, April 28, 1973 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp. Father John Puerner performed the 1:30 p.m. marriage ceremony. Robin Huda was the organist.

The bride wore a white organza gown with an attached train. It had a stand up neckline, with lace top accented with pearls, long lace sleeves, and a full skirt trimmed with lace. Her bouffant veil fell in three layers below her shoulder with an open crown accented with seed pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of white carnations, stephanotis and baby’s breath.

Miss Jeanne Prokopiak, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, with Diane Powell, sister of the groom, and Miss Barbara Prokopiak, sister of the bride, as bridesmaids. They wore floor length gowns of aqua blue chiffon with lace accenting the sleeves and empire bodice. Harmonizing veils secured by a bow completed their ensembles. Each carried a bouquet of starburst mums and yellow roses.

Linda and Kenneth Powell, cousins of the groom, were flower girl and ring bearer. The flower girl wore a floor length white gown and carried a basket of white and yellow daisies.

Bill Petro was best man, with Francis Prokopiak, brother of the bride, and Robert Bee as groomsmen. Ushers were Bernard Pokopiak and Lambert Prokopiak, brothers of the bride.

The wedding dinner was served to about 200 guests at the thorp Quonset Hall, which was also the scene of the reception and dance. Miss Ann Prokopiak, sister of the bride, was hostess for the dinner.

Guests came from Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Virginia and Indiana.
