Schwarze, Wesley (8 May 1908 – 13 April 1979) With Flag
Wesley Schwarze of Rt. 1 Willard, Town of Mead, died Friday evening, April 13,
in the Neillsville Memorial Hospital. He was born May 8, 1908, in Greenwood. He
attended elementary and high school and for 38 years worked as assistant
postmaster in Greenwood. He retired in 1966.
A World War II veteran, he served from 1944-1946. He was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church and had served more than 35 years as its secretary and
treasurer. He was married on Silvia Schuette, on September 5, 1942, in
Greenwood.
Surviving is his wife, and a brother Herbert, Deerwood, Mn. He was preceded in
death by two brothers.
Funeral services were held on April 17, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in
Greenwood. The Rev. Douglas Groenewald officiated. Ron Kowitz was the organist
for three songs sung by the congregation. Pallbearers were Elmer Learman, Ted
Poznanski, Herman Metzke, George Stark, Leo Olson and Louis Gerhard. Burial,
with full military rites by the Greenwood American Legion, of which Mr. Schwarze
was a member, was in the Greenwood Cemetery. The Rinka Funeral Home of Greenwood
was in charge of arrangements.
