Welch, Ila Mae (22 MAY 1971)
Mr. and Mrs. David William Markus are at home at 2612 S. Washington Ave.
following their May 22, 1971 wedding in Zion Lutheran Church, Colby (Clark Co.,
Wis.).
Rev. David T. Pankow performed the 3 p.m. ceremony uniting Miss Ila Mae Welch,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russel Welch, Holcombe, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.H.
Markus, Colby.
Phil Hokanson was soloist for the ceremony and Mrs. Howard Ranow was organist.
Given in marriage by her father, Ila was attired in a floor length empire gown
of Rosepoint lace with chapel train. With it she had a jeweled veil and a
bouquet of an orchid surrounded by yellow feathered carnations and stephanotis.
The matron of honor, Mrs. Bonnie Eckstrom of Gilman and the bridesmatron, Mrs.
JoAnne Goelden of Wausau, wore gowns of maize georgette over taffeta and carried
colonial bouquets of lavender and white daisies.
Attending the groom were Henry Niemann, Savannah, Georgia, best man, and Harold
Goelden, Wausau, groomsman. Don Ortlieb, Dorchester, and Don Farning, Medford,
performed the ushering duties.
A reception at the Abbotsford City Hall followed the ceremony. The couple left
on a wedding trip to Kentucky and Tennessee.
Mrs. Markus attended Gilman High School and spent one year at Business College
in Eau Claire. She has been employed as a medical secretary at Memorial Hospital
in Medford. Her husband attended Colby High School and is a fireman with the
