Devine, Mr./Mrs. James (45th – 15 JUN 1971)
Mr. and Mrs. James Devine, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were guests of honor at a
picnic dinner held at the Daniel Brey home, rural Colby, on Saturday, June 12,
1971, to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.
The Devines were married June 15, 1926 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Withee, with Mr. and Mrs. Vander Wegan as their attendants. They resided in
Owen, where Mr. Devine was a businessman until 1942, when they moved to the farm
near Withee, where they still reside.
They are parents of 14 children. The eldest child, William, drowned in the Black
River in 1945 at the age of 19.
The thirteen living children, their spouses and their families all attended the
anniversary celebration on Saturday. They are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Devine and
five children of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Devine and eight children, Owen, Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph (Theresa) Pawlak and two children, Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. Burt
Devine and eleven children, Menomonee Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle (Janice) Johnson
and five children, Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel (Marilyn) Brey and seven
children, Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Devine and two children, Eau Claire, Mr.
and Mrs. Theodore Devine and five children, Green Bay, Mr. and Mrs. David Devine
and two children, Withee, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Devine and three children, Eau
Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Devine and two children, Bruce, and Mr. and Mrs.
John (Kay) Parker and two children, Owen.
