Holt, Mary Ann (13 March 1898 – 24 April 1976)

A longtime resident of the Town of Weston, Mrs. Clarence (Mary Ann) Holt, 78, of Rt. 1 Greenwood, died Saturday, April 24, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Neillsville United Church of Christ with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home.

The daughter of Joseph and Anna Esselmann McKimm, Mrs. Holt was born March 13, 1898, in the Town of York and was educated locally, attending the Oriole Hill and Forman Schools. Her marriage to Clarence Holt took place December 5, 1923, in Clark County.

Following their marriage, the Holts farmed in the Town of Weston. After Mr. Holt’s death on February 26, 1966, Mrs. Holt remained on the family farm with her son. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Royal Neighbors of America Golden Link Camp No. 78, and of the Women’s Relief Corps.

Surviving are six children, Ray Hetzel of Granton, Gale Hetzel of Alexandria, La., Donald Holt of Greenwood, Verlan Holt of South Beloit, Il., Mrs. Frank (Emma) Wilson of Neillsville and Audrey Rice of Greenwood; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Della) Dux of Lancaster, Ca., one brother, Raymond McKimm of Marshfield; and 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Holt, Mary Ann (13 March 1898 - 24 April 1976)

Funeral services were held April 27 from the Neillsville United Church of Christ for Mrs. Mary A. Holt, 78, of Rt. 1 Greenwood, who died April 24 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. The Rev. Gary Clark officiated, and interment followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Clarence Ratsch, Stanley Ratsch, Lisle Armitage, Ferris Watson, Noel Olson and Douglas Buddinger.

Mrs. Anita Mathis was the soloist and Mrs. Deon Spangler, the accompanist.

Among those attending the services were Theron Gergen, Crane, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Don Pompuin, Milwaukee; Mrs. Walter Hinkelmann, Jacksonville, Tx.; Mr. and Mrs. Gale Hetzel, Alexandria, La.; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dux, Lancaster, Ca.; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hetzel, Minneapolis, Mn.; Verlan Holt and sons, South Beloit, Il.; and Mrs. Darlene Holt and sons, Janesville.

Also, in attendance were friends and relatives from Greenwood, Loyal, Marshfield, Granton and the surrounding area.
