Schultz, Carol Jean (19 JUN 1971)
Miss Carol Jean Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schultz, Butternut, and
Ensign Larry Allen Westberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Westberg, Colby, spoke
their wedding vows before the Rev. Gerald A. Homp, Saturday, June 19, 1091, in
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Butternut.
Mrs. Rudolph Tank was the organist and Donald Metz the soloist for the 2 p.m.
ceremony.
Carol was escorted to the altar by her father. Her A-line gown of imported silk
organza featured a high standup Venice lace collar, Juliet sleeves, empire waist
and attached chapel train. The bride and her grandmother made the mantilla veil
trimmed with matching Venice lace bordering the train. Her Juliet headpiece was
covered with Venice lace and accented with small Australian made borealis
stones. She carried a prayer book with a large orchid. Her jewelry was her
grandmother’s 60-year old confirmation locket.
Miss Wanda Shipley of Ridgeland was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss
Cheryl Schultz, Columbia, South Carolina, Mrs. Donald MacGregor and Miss Joyce
Schultz, Butternut.
They wore floor length gowns of orchid chiffon with Venice lace appliqued bode,
high lace necklines, bishop sleeves, empire waist and semi-full skirts. Their
shoulder length veils were secured to Juliet caps. The colonial bouquets of
orchid and white mums were accented with baby’s breath and streamers.
The flower girl, Miss Nancy Schultz, was attired similar to the bride. She
carried a basket of orchid mums and daisies. Master James Schultz, the ring
bearer, wore a white tuxedo and carried a white satin heart-shaped pillow made
by the bride’s grandmother.
The best man was Michael Mach of Wrightstown. Ronald Schultz of Butternut, Eldon
Westberg and Ricky Westberg of Colby were the groomsmen. Gary Krauter, Colby,
and James Perala, Barron, performed the ushering duties.
A reception at the Park Falls Legion Hall followed the ceremony. A wedding dance
was held in the evening.
The bride has just completed her junior year at Wisconsin State University,
Superior, where she is majoring in Elementary Education. She is a member of
Delta Sigma Sorority.
The groom is an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, undergoing flight training at Saufley
Field, Milton, Florida. He graduated from Wisconsin State University, Superior
in 1970, where he was affiliated with Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.
The couple are on a wedding trip to Milton, Florida, where they will be making
their home.
