Kitze, Clarence (12 September 1909-8 January 1981)
OWEN--- Clarence L. Kitze, 71, of 413 W. Bjornstad St. who operated Green
Lantern Tavern from 1935 to 1975, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital,
Marshfield. He was admitted there December 26.
The funeral will be Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev. Richard L.
Fiss is to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
Friends may call at Maurina Funeral Home.
Mr. Kitze was born September 12, 1909 in Bay City, Michigan. He graduated from
Owen High School and attended University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and University
of Minnesota.
Besides operating the tavern, he worked for Teledyne Post Company 12 years. He
was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Holy Name Men's Society.
On November 4, 1935 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford, he and Evelyn
LaBlance were married.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Margaret Kitze of Menomonie; two sons,
Michael of Rhineland and Phillip of Minneapolis; four brothers, William of Owen,
Fred of Kenosha, Theodore of Lake Geneva and Edward of Chicago; three sisters,
Mrs. William (Marge) Armbrust of Medford and Mrs. Louise Smithies and Mrs.
Elaine Piltz, both of Madison; and one granddaughter,
