Mr. and Mrs. David J. Calley Jr., Route 1, Colby, have been selected as the 1971 outstanding young dairy couple of the Marathon-Clark District of Associated Milk Producers, Incorporated. This was announced by Arnold Bakke of rural Curtiss, the district’s representative on the AMPI Mid-State Region Board of Directors.

Couples are selected on the basis of leadership, personality and progress in dairy farming.

The Mid-State Region of the AMPI has 32 districts in the process of selecting a couple to compete for the title of outstanding young diary couple in the region in Chicago, August 19-20.

Five finalist couple will be named. From the five, a winning couple will be chosen and will represent AMPI as national young cooperator delegates at the annual convention of the National Milk Producers Federation in Bal Harbor, Florida, November 28 to December 2. A runner-up couple will be selected and will also attend the NMPF convention as delegates. The three remaining finalist couples will represent AMPI at the 1972 annual convention of the American Institute of Cooperation.

The outstanding young diary couples program is designed to encourage leadership among young members of AMPI.
