Foemmel, Mr./Mrs. Ervin (35th – 20 April 1976)

The 35th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Foemmel of Rt.2 Neillsville, was observed Saturday afternoon and evening, May 15.

The Foemmels wee married April 20, 1941, at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. August Kindt, Greenwood. They moved to Milwaukee where they purchased a grocery. Later, Ervin delivered ice and coal. He then served on the battleship USS North Carolina.

After moving back to Neillsville, Erv and Lillian Foemmel purchased a dairy farm. Later business ventures included ownership of the A & W Rootbeer Stand and the House of Cheer in Neillsville. Presently, they own the Neillsville Mobilehome Court.

The Foemmel’s children include Mrs. Dennis (Sandy) Larsen, Mrs. Wayne (Bonnie) Short, Cheryl Foemmel and Douglas Foemmel. There are four grandchildren, Dean, Dwayne and Nicole Larsen and Ryan Foemmel.

Friends and relatives from out of town spent Satruday afternoon at the Foemmel home. They came from Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, Sturgeon Bay, Marshfield, Ladysmith, Tomah, Appleton, Black River Falls, Waupun, Mauston, Cable and Granton in Wisconsin; Dundee, Libertyville and Moline, Il.; Minneapolis, Mn.; and Charles City, Ia.

An evening celebration and a dance were held at the American Legion Hall. A highlight of the evening was a mock wedding ceremony presented by Hank and Arlene Knoll, Melvin and Virginia Marg, Jerry and Faye Opelt, Nancy Tresemer and Willie and Jean Volz. Following the ceremony, Reinhart Lautenbach of Milwaukee sang a mock wedding song.

The Foemmels’ son, who has a photography studio in Stevens Point, had the couple’s enlarged wedding photo on display.
