Braun, Herbert (26 January 1898-7 February 1981)

Granton-- Herbert Braun, 83, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital of Neillsville.

Services will be Wednesday at United Methodist Church, the Rev. William Noble officiating, Burial will be in Abbotsford Cemetery. Friends may call at Gilbertson Funeral Home.

Mr. Braun was born January 26, 1898 in the town of Fremont and educated there. His first marriage was to Jessie Hansen, who died in September 1943. On December 14, 1948, he and Hazel Galbreath were married at Zion American Lutheran parsonage here.

He lived in Abbotsford until the death of his first wife. He then farmed near Granton until 1956, when he moved to Mayville. He returned to Granton in 1966.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Neal of Hartford and Douglas of Neillsville; two step-daughters, Mrs. George Carstensen and Mrs. James Barth, both of Granton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Clyde of Granton and Roland of Waukegan, Illinois. Three brothers and three sisters are deceased.

Michael Barth, Dennis Braun, Michael Opelt, Donald Sladich Jr., Ralph Jensen and Anton Suda are to serve as pallbearers. Music will be provided by Kay Schmitz and Michael Bletsoe.
