Almquist, Carl M. (11 December 1917-24 February 1981)
NEILLSVILLE--Carl M. Almquist, 63, of 503 E. Sixth St. Neillsville, died Tuesday
at Memorial Home here.
Services will be Friday at Gasche Funeral Home. The Rev. William Noble of United
Methodist Church is to officiate. Burial will be in Neillsville Cemetery.
Merle, Jerry, Gary, Daniel and Randy Krehmeyer and Earl Hanson are to serve as
pallbearers
Mr. Almquist was born December 11, 1917 at Omaha, Nebraska, and educated there.
He worked in Nebraska several years, then entered the U.S. Navy. He served from
October 9, 1942 to October 12, 1945 in the Pacific Theater and was awarded two
bronze stars.
He returned to Nebraska and was employed as a toll and dye maker for Baldwin
Filter. His marriage to Josephine M. Medearis took place November 1, 1954 in
Fremont, Nebraska. e was employed by Nelson Filter Corporation after returning
here. He retired a year ago.
He was a member of United Methodist Church and Neillsville Veterans of Foreign
War Post No. 2241.
Survivors include a stepson, Merle Krehmeyer of Neillsville; three sisters, Mrs.
Earl (Marion) Samples of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. John (Ruth) Wise of Atlantic,
Iowa, and Mrs. Vincent (Lillian) Warren of Sioux City, Nebraska; four
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
