Melbinger, Rodney P. (30 August 1911-27 February 1981)
Rodney P. Melbinger Sr., 69, of 606 S Walnut Ave., died of an apparent heart
attack this morning at his home.
A memorial service will be Monday at Hansen Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert C.
Reinhardt of Immanuel Lutheran Church is to officiate. Bill Allen and Mrs.
Harold Castner will provide music.
There will be no visitation. The body is to be cremated.
Mr. Melbinger was born August 30, 1911 in Withee to Mr. and Mrs. John (Anna
Horn) Melbinger. He attended Withee schools and at the age of 16 began working
with a railroad section crew.
He later moved here and was a foreman for Weinbrenner Shoe Factory 25 years.
From 1960 to 1963, he operated Rod's Bar and from 1963 until retiring in 1966,
he was with AMAX Corporation. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
His first marriage was to Carol Trierweiler, who died in 1936, In March 1937, he
and Elsie Beasler were married in Waukon, Iowa, She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jerry and Dick Saindon and Rodney Melbinger Jr.,
all of Marshfield; 11 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Harold (Carrie)
Slinger of Charles City, Iowa. One brother is deceased.
